Role Overview
The Performance Director (Client Partner Lead) supports the Strategic Performance Director in executing growth strategies for major clients and developing them for smaller accounts.
This role demands expertise in media planning across all channels, with a readiness to expand knowledge in technology, performance creative, and training offerings.
Responsible for line management and personal development of assigned team members.
Key Responsibilities
Communication
- Expert in presenting to senior clients and pitching new business.
- Ensures effective sharing of client information within internal teams.
- Challenges clients and suppliers authoritatively on marketing strategy, while maintaining diplomacy.
- Articulates media to clients in an informed manner in an advisory capacity
- Keeps CPL informed on all updates on the region
Role Management
- Develops relationships with client marketing teams, supporting account strategy and stakeholder engagement.
- Manages resources to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Handles conflict confidently, aiming for positive outcomes for both client and agency.
- Models and mentors professional behavior within the team.
- Well informed on all media changes and advises clients on any updates.
Leadership & Initiative
- Oversees line management and personal development, including appraisals and setting objectives/KPIs.
- Proactively seeks performance management skills and training.
- Delegates effectively, listens well, and motivates the team.
Strategic Excellence
- Highly skilled in media planning and understanding the roles of different channels in campaign objectives.
- Fully understands all business divisions (media, technology, creative, training) and integrates them into client roadmaps.
- Confidently advises on spend allocation and best practices, challenging client approaches when needed.
- Identifies and leverages growth opportunities, even without a client brief.
- Develops robust strategies and supports junior colleagues in planning.
- Ability to translate campaign data into clear insights on what is driving results, enabling informed decisions on optimisation, investment and audience strategy based on evidence
Commercial Acumen
- Maintains commercial awareness regarding client spend and profitability (e.g., pacing, year-on-year trends).
- Engages in strategic client roadmaps and onboarding new agency capabilities.
- Handles commercial challenges such as rate negotiations and scope discussions comfortably
